If you give a ride to some guys you kinda know, and they go and shoot someone else, will you be held responsible for the shooting?
False or Mistaken Eyewitness Testimony is something that is loved by the U.S. In-Justice System. They love it so much that it makes up almost 70% of the more than 375 wrongful convictions in the United States that were overturned by post-conviction DNA evidence, according to some reports.
But do you need more reports, when day after day, year after year, you yourself watch these cases unfold right in front of your own eyes? Would I be enough of a witness for you, who witnesses on a daily basis, the negative and disastrous effects of these, False Eyewitness Accounts destroying people's lives forever?
Imagine how many people have been killed just because of someone's False Eyewitness Testimony or Mistaken Identity Account? Here are the summaries of 46 Cases in Which Mistaken or Perjured Eyewitness Testimony Put Innocent Persons on Death Row - Now think about all those cases where the Prosecutors use jailhouse snitches or coerce others by giving them plea deals in exchange for railroading someone else. How many cases would reek of that stink?
Kemen Lavatos Taylor was convicted of one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder related to the shooting of three teenagers.
On October 4, 2012, a grand jury indicted Taylor on two counts of murder related to the shooting death of Rayjon Gomez: first-degree premeditated murder and first-degree murder while committing a drive-by shooting. Taylor was also indicted on attempted first-degree murder charges related to two victims who survived the shooting. Kemen says, his only mistake that day was to give those two guys a ride.
Taylor, at 27, was immediately sentenced to life in prison without parole in Minneapolis Minnesota. The jury took about five hours to reach its verdict and left Kemen and his family stunned.
The Case of Kemen Taylor is a prime example of such False Eyewitness Testimony devastating the core Justice Values of America while decimating the lives of real human beings and their families, along the way.
