American Justice | Day 2
Day 2 at the trial of Derek Chauvin in the killing of George Floyd was full of a very strange sadness to the core. It was poured out in the emotional testimony of a 9 year old girl, teenagers, a professional MMA fighter and a Firefighter. These witnesses, among others, were present at the crime scene when it occured in Minneapolis on May 2th 2020.
The defence tried to play the “Chewbacca defense”, a legal strategy, to try and convince the jury that the officers were distracted and could not attend to Mr. Floyd’s medical needs, and they were under pressure because the crowd got angrier and they felt threatened.
Darnella Frazier, the teenage girl who captured the video of Floyd taking his last breath, shows it all.
It was bizzare to put these people at the witness stand. To make them go through that horror again just to satisfy the masters and the peasants in this Game Show. What more do they want to see? What will be enough for them to break through a clear cognitive dissonance? Are they saying that our eyes are lying?
The best way to summarize today's events is in the testimony of MMA fighter, Donald Wynn Williams II, who called 911 after persistently begged Mr. Derek Chauvin to get off George Floyd's neck. He said, “I called the police on the police”. He concluded by saying, "I witnessed a murder”.
We will be curating the trial everyday until there is a final decision with Justice.
